It’s trouble as usual for Bubba. His mother, Miz Demetrice, and her good friend, Miz Adelia, are up to no good with the DEA watching them for mysterious reasons. I have read every single book in the Bubba and also the Brownie series. The author has each page dated and follows in perfect order day after day so we don't miss a minute of the story. So what gives with the ending of this book? When Willodean went missing, Bubba went to her house and he said he felt strange because he had never been in her house before. His dialog was always - well - like a big Bubba when always dreaming of stealing a kiss from her. To have the ending this book does makes no sense at all. None. I won't spoil it for anyone who has not read it yet, but my main complaint about all of these books by C.L. Bevill is that she recapped everything from all of the other books, spoiling the story for those as yet unread.Sorry, but for him to wonder during the entire book if Willodean still likes him or not, to the point of sounding like a kid in grade school - the ending was a joke.

If I feel down and depressed, all I have to do is read one of the "Bubba" books by C.L. Bevill. Funny, smart books that make you laugh out loud. And Brownie now has a new sidekick baby sister nicknamed Cookie! Oh, the things she's going to get into! Can't wait! C.L. Bevill is a talented author that doesn't have to stoop to gratuitous sex and violence and filthy language. Well done Caren, well done. More, please!!!!!
C.L. delivers with more Bubba. Poor Bubba. Sometimes I wish the poor guy could just catch a break! But the whole gang is back- Mz. D, Willodean, Sheriff John, and ALL the rest- for a madcap zombie adventure. I don't know if C.L. has recently spent time on a low-budget movie production, but for anyone who hasn't ever set foot on an indie on-location shoot, she nails the description to a tee.
Without giving away anything, I'm a little concerned for the future of the Bubba books based on the ending of this one, but this is a great romp with our favorite Redneck and his down-home family and neighbors.
But please tell me, is the constant use of "gentile" instead of "genteel" deliberate? Because if so, I'm just not getting the joke.I'm currently on book six and this word appears with astonishing regularity in a series remarkably free from other typos...It's driving me crazy that i don't get the humor in the usage!
I have enjoyed the Bubba stories and was intrigued when a love interest was introduced. I am bit tired of Bubba always being falsely accused and jailed. Really, but I was never more surprised at the ending of this story when Willodean revealed her secret. Who knew, there was never any indication, as far as I could see, that anything other than a sweet romance was going on between them. I was about to give up reading the books, cause the torrid romance was non-existent and as said before, I was getting tired of Bubba being the beat upon "good" guy. So if you like sweet, innocent fluff, with a little light mystery thrown in; you will enjoys this story and all the other Bubba stories. They remind me of "The Cat Who......" books by Lillian Braun.
Bubba has a huge heart, but of course we already knew that. Anyone ever wondered about the inanities of zombie movies? Well you get to see it here, um brains anyone? Bubba is sorely put upon as a man. Before now he's always seemed to be the poor guy who is always in the wrong place at the wrong time---kind of a big dumb lug. He's finally decided he's not going to take it anymore and about darn time! He needed to grow and I like this aspect we're seeing now. There are some funny moments and that will be appreciated. Bevell is giving Bubba more of a dimension as a character. That changes up some of the familiar ground she has covered in the past. I can't wait to see how Bubba will continue to evolve in future novels, but the possibilities are wide open. Enjoy reading!
I am totally hooked on the Bubba series!! Bubba, Miz D, Brownie...OMG too darn funny! I did say there was some violence only because these are mysteries and ... well... someone is likely going to die. However, there is nothing graphic or "violent" about these books. They're a riot! I have read all of the books in the Bubba series and can't wait for the next one. In this book, Bubba gets himself roped into being an actor in a B-rated Zombie movie, almost gets himself killed, and Miz D is up to no good as usual. I can't put these books down and i find myself laughing out loud all the time.
Bubba is on a picnic in a cemetery getting ready to ask his lady love, the beautiful, feisty Willodean a very important question when they hear a moan and see zombies coming toward them. Everybody knows that dead people seem to follow Bubba around so it shouldn't be a surprise. A film crew, zombies, DEA agents, and lots of babies makes for a rousing adventure with Bubba, Precious, Willodean, and ma, complete with a murder (of course you'll never guess who they think did it). I especially enjoyed this one, Bubba and Willodeans romance hits another level in this one and we get a lot of Precious which I really liked. This left me wanting even more Bubbaliciousness.
